M&A Industry Roundtable (Exclusive, by invitation only)
Limited Capacity full

Acquisition of technology businesses by MNCs has been a fairly timid activity in emerging markets such as India. While India is well poised to present several exciting investment opportunities in the technology space, MNCs face their own set of challenges in making investments in the country. Start-up ecosystem is rapidly growing to position India as a hub of technology innovation

One may argue that lack of established companies is a be prime reason, However, the trends are changing and there have been some very exciting venture backed tech product/service start-ups that have made their mark and could provide a good strategic angle to MNCs.

The Objective of the forum is to offer networking opportunity to MNC teams dealing with strategic investments, business & technology acquisition and ventures capital in India. Secondly, understanding challenges of M&A in India and what can be done to increase the activity.

Building a Fundable Startup

When teams come together to tackle a problem they are passionate about, they often do not think through on things like the team structure, deeper understanding of the market, and overall business construct early-on in their journey. Since most investors fund around 1% of the deals that they review, this implies that most founders are not successful in their fundraising efforts.

This session will equip you with the core knowledge needed to build a company that stands a good shot at attracting investors. Learn why 99% of startups fail to raise funding and what characteristics investors (both angel and VC) are looking for when they evaluate companies. You will leave with more complete understanding of how to build a startup and tips to help you attract that investment you need!

Why Smart People Get Stuck?

Being stuck is to face one or more stumbling blocks on the path.

If you are smart, but stuck, it can be very frustrating. You can clearly see the destination and it is attainable (meaning you are not going after a pie in the sky). You even know how to get there but there’s one or more obstacles in the path. You can’t proceed without removing those obstacles. You have to get “unstuck” first before you resume your journey to that pot of gold.

Rajesh has been researching on the topic of "why smart people get stuck" for the last four years. In this fast paced talk, he will highlight a few of those scenarios excerpting from his upcoming book "From Smart to Successful."

Walking the Tight Rope: Growth Vs Cash flow

Startups in India tend to focus more on being cash flow positive as soon as possible, sometimes even getting into services to pay the bills. Thinking beyond Uncle Sam

The US is known as the land of early adopters and high value customers. But it is also a highly competitive market, and it's hard to get a sizeable market share there. You spend a lot of time and effort trying to gain a grasp on this market, while proudly proclaiming you have a global footprint for your product.

But the globe is more than the United States. There are other markets out there, developed and developing. There are other markets that have unmet needs, that your product may be right for. But you don't go there because you haven't heard of many people following such a strategy. We have three speakers from the founding teams of their companies, who will tell you why they chose to go to markets other than the US, how they went about it and bust some of your mind-made myths along the way.

Watch them talk about how they chose their first markets outside India, what they did to grow it, and how they used that experience to expand and grow into a truly global organization.

The Global Mobile Enterprise Application Platform market will reach $1.6 billion in 2014, less than 7% of the mobile applications market which stands at $25 billion per year. Given that organizations still haven’t moved from the notorious IE 6 browsers, why should we be hopeful of their embracing Enterprise mobility? Are enterprises geared to embrace the mobility movement? Are their current development and operations teams prepared for the mobility solutions from beta testing through end of life?

Promoting Accessible Products - Bit by Bit - Round-table by NASSCOM Foundation
Limited Capacity full

NASSCOM Foundation, the social development arm of NASSCOM focuses on Tech4Good to impact lives. The Foundation’s ‘Disability Initiative’ promotes employment of persons with disabilities, accessibility and access to assistive technology and tools to the segment.

Most of the producers of software products, applications and websites focus on the characteristics of the "average" user. To ensure access to all potential users, it is important that  access barriers to people with disabilities are avoided by developing the software/ mobile apps / websites that can be used by people with a wide range of abilities and disabilities.  Such accessible products are also beneficial for aged and mobile device users.  Organizations with accessible websites benefit from search engine optimization (SEO), increased consumer loyalty, reduced legal risk (in some countries) and demonstration of corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The session is designed to create awareness about ‘Digital Accessibility’ and discuss the business case for accessible software, apps and website, while demonstrating the business benefit (social, technical, and financial) and the expected returns in doing so. Come and listen to leading product companies like Intuit, BarrierBreak Technologies talk about their thoughts and strategies behind making their products accessible.

Join us in the Round Table that aims to Promote Accessible Products- bit by bit…
